Decadent vegan waffles that will trick your taste buds into thinking they are the real deal!
These vegan chocolate chunk waffles are great for anyone who wants something dairy and egg-free that tastes like regular waffles but not as heavy.
I love this recipe inspired by Loving It Vegan, I use this recipe a ton on sleepy Sunday mornings and it’s a crowd favorite. These waffles are something we can enjoy as a family and I don’t have to modify anything. The best part is that it doesn’t call for any crazy ingredients and flax eggs nor apple sauce is not required!
Like most recipes, these waffles are also customizable so if you don’t want chocolate, you can use blueberries, pecans, or whatever you like to add to your waffles.
These are Belgian-style waffles but you can use whatever waffle iron you have!

Dry Ingredients:
- 1 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour (we use High Altitude flour)

- 3tbs of Sugar
- 2 tsp of Baking Powder
Wet Ingredients:
- 1 1/4 cup of non-dairy milk (I like Almond, but soy is perfectly fine)
- 2 tbs of Coconut Oil (I like the Trader Joe’s Triple Filtered Coconut Oil because it tastes the least like coconut)

Plug-in and preheat your waffle iron to your desired temperature. We like ours on the golden-brown side so ours is turned up pretty-high.
In a bowl, add all of the dry ingredients (except for the chocolate chunks) first and then add the wet ingredients.
I do think it is important to use coconut oil in this recipe because it does add to the crispy texture of the waffles. We know that avocado oil does not work the same way.
Whisk the dry and wet ingredients together until all of the lumps have dissipated and then add the chocolate. Whisk and stir until all is incorporated.
Spray your waffle iron with non-stick spray and pour the batter into the iron–try not to over-fill the iron as clean up is a nightmare when the iron has cooled down.
TIP: keep a wet towel at the ready just in case the iron over-flows.
Each waffle takes less than 5 minutes to cook. Served best hot and with tons of sticky syrup and whipped cream*. I hope you enjoy these waffles and let me know what you think!
